Dr. Jeffrey Yu is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for women at every stage of life. He performs deliveries and gynecologic surgeries at Mount Sinai West Hospital near Columbus Circle in Manhattan, where he also completed his OB/GYN residency training. During his residency, Dr. Yu received the Resident Achievement Award in Laparoscopy from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and was recognized as Chief Resident for Outstanding Role Model of Leadership and Professionalism.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, Dr. Yu graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles before earning his medical degree from Albany Medical College. After relocating to the East Coast for medical school and residency, he made New York City his permanent home. During his academic years, he also spent summers teaching at California State University, Los Angeles.
Dr. Yu has extensive experience in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, utilizing advanced laparoscopic techniques to treat conditions such as pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and fibroids. His clinical interests also include contraception counseling, abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal Pap smears, infertility, preconception counseling, family planning, and comprehensive prenatal care and delivery.
Committed to empowering women in their healthcare decisions, Dr. Yu believes in providing patients with the knowledge and support they need to make informed choices about their care. He is a strong advocate for vaginal birth, including vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), for patients who wish to pursue a trial of labor following a prior C-section.
Beyond his work in New York, Dr. Yu has participated in medical missions around the world, volunteering his time and expertise in Bangladesh, South Korea, Mexico, and underserved communities throughout the United States.
