Peter Sherman, MD, MPH Awarded As NY Top Doc For 2025
Dr. Peter Sherman has been reviewed and approved by NY Top Docs based on merit for 2025.
Dr. Sherman earned his Medical Degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his Pediatric training at Montefiore Medical Center. He then pursued a fellowship at the University of Maryland. Board-certified in both Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Dr. Sherman also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Lehman College.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sherman has dedicated himself to improving the health of children and adolescents in the Bronx, both as a clinician and a leader. His passion for providing quality healthcare to underserved pediatric populations remains one of his key commitments. He has lectured both locally and nationally on these topics, particularly focusing on the health of homeless children and the effects of domestic violence. Dr. Sherman has also co-chaired the Ambulatory Pediatrics Association’s special interest group for the “under-served” and served on the Steering Committee for the Healthcare of the Homeless Clinician’s Network. “We are taking on an essential role and clearly succeeding in caring for newborns, children, and adolescents,” Dr. Sherman stated.
Before joining BronxCare, Dr. Sherman served as Director of the residency program in Social Pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Center, which is widely regarded as one of the premier training programs for physicians dedicated to serving urban, at-risk children.
Under Dr. Sherman’s guidance, the Pediatrics Department offers a comprehensive range of services in a state-of-the-art children’s wing. The department addresses a variety of health issues, including acute respiratory and cardiac conditions, asthma complications, diabetes, gastrointestinal and neurological disorders, and infectious diseases. The Children’s Wing features a 20-bed inpatient unit, an ICU, a major outpatient center, and several community outreach sites.
