He later earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Johns Hopkins, building a strong foundation in both innovation and medicine.

Following medical school, Dr. Lao completed six years of integrated residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he refined his expertise in complex reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. He then pursued one of the nation’s most prestigious aesthetic surgery fellowships under renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston in New York, an experience that further elevated his surgical artistry and approach to cosmetic enhancement.

Dr. Lao’s career has spanned internationally, including serving as an attending physician in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taipei, one of the world’s leading centers for reconstructive microsurgery. He later returned to Manhattan to establish his private practice, where he continues to provide highly personalized care grounded in precision, safety, and aesthetic excellence.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lao has earned numerous honors and distinctions recognizing both his surgical expertise and academic contributions. He has authored multiple publications in respected medical journals covering topics in aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and oral cancer research, while also presenting educational lectures designed to advance knowledge and innovation within the field of plastic surgery.
